| Product Name | Biotin Labelling Kit for Avi-Tag Fusion Proteins (BirA) |
| Catalog No. | REKI-0011 |
| Description | A biotin ligase (BirA) system that biotinylates Avi-tag fusion proteins quickly and efficiently, after which streptavidin or avidin reagents handle detection, capture and purification. The Avi tag is a short 15-amino-acid peptide, and BirA attaches biotin to a defined lysine of the tag in the presence of ATP and biotin. Because the tag is small and labelling is confined to a single residue, fusion proteins keep their activity; compared with random chemical biotinylation the enzymatic route reacts under milder conditions with higher specificity and reproducibility, and the labelled protein binds streptavidin with high affinity. |
| Intended Use | Site-specific biotinylation of Avi-tagged proteins and peptides for ELISA, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, bio-layer interferometry, surface plasmon resonance and affinity purification. |
| Principle / Technology | BirA biotin ligase transfers biotin to the Avi-tag lysine in an ATP-dependent reaction, giving single-site enzymatic labelling. |
| Detection Method | Avi tag (15 amino acids), biotinylated at a defined lysine residue |
| Sample Type | Avi-tagged recombinant proteins and peptides |
| Performance Range / Specifications | High labelling efficiency with good reproducibility; mild reaction conditions that barely affect protein activity |
| Storage Conditions | -25 to -15 °C |
| Shelf Life | 1 year |
| Package Specifications | 20 tests, 100 tests |
| Compatibility | Streptavidin and avidin affinity media and detection reagents |
