Product Introduction Acyltransferases represent a large family of multifunctional proteins that play crucial roles in numerous biological processes. They primarily catalyze acylation and deacylation reactions, contributing significantly to the regulation of gene expression, metabolic pathways, and cellular signaling.
In an assay for acyltransferase activity, the enzyme catalyzes the transfer of an acetyl group from acetyl-CoA to butanol. Concurrently, the reduction of DTNB (5,5′-dithiobis-(2-nitrobenzoic acid)) produces TNB (2-nitro-5-thiobenzoate), which exhibits a characteristic absorption peak at 412 nm. By monitoring the rate of increase in absorbance at this wavelength, the activity of acyltransferase can be quantitatively determined.
Product Application For metabolic disease research, lipid metabolism studies, and functional analysis of enzyme activity in biological samples such as tissues, cells, and serum.
