Product Introduction Acyltransferases are key enzymes that transfer acyl groups (e.g., from acyl-CoAs) to various acceptors (glycerol-3-phosphate, lysophospholipids, cholesterol, proteins), playing central roles in phospholipid synthesis, triglyceride formation, cholesterol esterification, and protein acylation. This kit provides a general, spectrophotometric method to monitor the CoA-SH released during the acyltransferase reaction using a sensitive thiol detection reagent (e.g., DTNB).
Product Application • Screening and characterization of acyltransferase enzymes (GPAT, AGPAT, DGAT, LCAT, etc.).
• Research on lipid biosynthesis, membrane remodeling, and lipid droplet formation.
• Studies of cholesterol esterification in macrophage foam cell formation (atherosclerosis).
• Drug discovery targeting metabolic disorders and cancers involving lipid metabolism.
Product Advantages • Broad Application Scope: Can be adapted to measure various acyltransferase activities by providing the appropriate acyl-CoA donor and acceptor substrates, offering great experimental flexibility.
• Universal Detection Principle: Detects the common product, free CoA-SH, making it applicable to a wide range of acyltransferase reactions without needing custom substrates for each enzyme.
• Real-Time Kinetic Measurement: Allows continuous monitoring of enzyme activity over time, facilitating kinetic parameter determination (Km, Vmax).
• Multiple Size Formats: Offered in 10T/9S, 25T/24S, and 50T/48S configurations to suit different throughput needs, from initial enzyme characterization to small-scale inhibitor screening.
