Description Alta DiagnoTech magnetic silica particles are designed for nucleic-acid extraction and purification. Silanol-rich hydroxyl, carboxyl or amino surfaces bind nucleic acids under high-salt, low-pH conditions through hydrophobic, hydrogen-bonding and electrostatic interactions while limiting protein binding.
Intended Use PCR-product purification, plasmid extraction, viral nucleic-acid extraction, genomic DNA extraction from blood, tissue, plants and microorganisms, and magnetic protein purification.
Principle / Technology Nucleic-acid adsorption to functional silica surfaces under high-salt, low-pH conditions followed by magnetic separation.
Performance Range / Specifications Particle sizes include 300, 500 and 600 nm plus amorphous 1-4 µm beads. Concentrations are 10 or 50 mg/mL. DNA binding capacity exceeds 20 µg DNA per mg of beads and magnetic response time is below 30 seconds.
Package Specifications 1, 5, 10, 20, 50 or 100 mL; selected amorphous beads also supplied as 4×250 mL; trial set contains four 1 mL bead types
