Product Name Caspase-6 Colorimetric Assay Kit
Catalog No. RESK-0180
Description Caspases are a family of proteases involved in apoptosis, comprising more than ten members. Caspase-6, also known as Mch-2, is generated when its precursor protein is cleaved by granzyme B to form an activated caspase-6 dimer that can induce apoptosis. Caspase-6 cleaves PARP, a key regulatory protein of apoptosis, and cleaves Lamin A, a key protein of the nuclear envelope, for which its recognition site is VEID.
Intended Use For the detection of Caspase-6 activity in mammalian tissues and cells; suitable for apoptosis research and quantitative measurement of Caspase-6 enzyme activity.
Principle / Technology The assay is based on the specific hydrolysis of the peptide substrate VEID-pNA (Val-Glu-Ile-Asp-p-nitroanilide) by Caspase-6. The released free p-nitroaniline (pNA) shows maximum absorbance at 405 nm, and Caspase-6 activity is determined by colorimetric measurement of pNA.
Detection Method Colorimetric assay (visible spectrophotometry); absorbance read at 405 nm
Sample Type Mammalian tissues and cells
Performance Range / Specifications Caspase-6 activity is determined by visible-light colorimetric measurement of pNA. Suitable for the detection of Caspase-6 activity in mammalian tissues and cells.
Specificity Based on the specific hydrolysis of the VEID-pNA substrate by Caspase-6.
