Angiotensin I (ANG I) is a key peptide intermediate in the renin-angiotensin system (RAS), a physiological pathway critical for regulating blood pressure, fluid and electrolyte balance, and cardiovascular homeostasis. It is synthesized from angiotensinogen, a plasma protein produced by the liver, through the proteolytic action of renin—an enzyme released by the juxtaglomerular cells of the kidneys in response to reduced blood volume, low blood pressure, or sympathetic nervous system activation.
As a precursor molecule, ANG I itself has minimal biological activity but serves as the immediate substrate for angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), which cleaves it to form angiotensin II (ANG II)—the primary effector peptide of the RAS. ANG II exerts potent vasoconstrictive effects, stimulates aldosterone secretion from the adrenal glands, and promotes sodium and water retention, all of which contribute to increasing blood pressure and maintaining circulatory stability.
Research on ANG I is fundamental to understanding the pathogenesis of various cardiovascular and renal disorders, including hypertension, heart failure, chronic kidney disease, and metabolic syndrome. Accurate quantification of ANG I in biological samples is essential for investigating RAS activation, evaluating the efficacy of RAS-targeted therapies (such as ACE inhibitors and renin inhibitors), and exploring the role of ANG I in other physiological processes (e.g., inflammation, oxidative stress, and tissue repair).
The ANG I ELISA Kit is designed to meet the growing demand for sensitive, specific, and reliable detection of ANG I in research settings. It enables researchers to quantify ANG I in a wide range of sample types, facilitating in-depth studies on the RAS and its implications in human and animal health.
Universal species reactivity, compatible with samples from various organisms to support diverse research models.
Versatile sample compatibility, accommodating serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples for flexible experimental design.
Competitive ELISA detection method with antigen-coated plates, ensuring high specificity and minimal cross-reactivity.
Detection wavelength set at OD450 nm, a standard and widely compatible wavelength for ELISA readers, simplifying experimental operation.
Short reaction duration of only 2 hours, improving experimental efficiency and reducing turnaround time for results.
Wide dynamic range of 0.313-20 ng/ml, allowing for the quantification of ANG I across a broad concentration spectrum in samples.
High sensitivity of 0.188 ng/ml, enabling the detection of low-abundance ANG I in dilute or low-concentration samples.
Convenient storage conditions (2-8°C sealed, no cryopreservation required), ensuring product stability and reducing storage-related logistical challenges.
Exceptional specificity: Specifically binds to ANG I with no obvious cross-reactivity with other RAS analogues (e.g., ANG II, angiotensinogen) or unrelated biomolecules, guaranteeing accurate and reliable assay results.
High sensitivity: Outperforms many conventional detection methods, enabling the quantification of trace amounts of ANG I that may be critical for detecting subtle changes in RAS activity.
User-friendly workflow: The kit’s design minimizes complex steps, making it accessible to researchers with varying levels of ELISA experience and reducing the risk of experimental errors.
Consistent performance: Manufactured under strict quality control standards to ensure batch-to-batch reproducibility, supporting consistent and comparable results across experiments.
Cost-effective: Provides a reliable and efficient solution for ANG I detection without the need for expensive equipment or specialized technical training, optimizing research budgets.
Research-focused design: Tailored to meet the specific needs of RAS research, with features that align with the requirements of basic science, preclinical, and translational research projects.
For research use only, not for clinical use.
