| Product Name | Ferrous Iron Assay Kit (Colorimetric) |
| Catalog No. | RESK-0186 |
| Description | Iron is one of the essential elements for the human body and plays an important role in metabolism and overall health. Iron deficiency in the blood can lead to iron-deficiency anemia. Iron is present in all cells of the human body, and it is found in various tissues and organs, including the endocrine glands. The liver, spleen, and lung tissues contain relatively abundant iron. An adult human body contains about 3-5 g of iron, most of which exists in the form of protein complexes, with only a very small fraction present as free ions. Ferrous iron is a key element in heme and hemoglobin and also plays an important role in many biochemical reactions. |
| Intended Use | For quantitative determination of ferrous iron (Fe2+) content in animal and plant tissues, serum (plasma), or other liquid samples. |
| Principle / Technology | This kit quantifies ferrous iron by a colorimetric method. Fe2+ in the sample forms a blue complex with the chromogenic reagent under acidic conditions, with an absorption peak at 593 nm. The Fe2+ content is calculated by measuring the absorbance at this wavelength. |
| Detection Method | Colorimetric assay; absorbance measured at 593 nm. |
| Sample Type | Animal and plant tissues, serum (plasma), or other liquid samples. |
| Reaction Conditions / Protocol | The chromogenic reaction is performed under acidic conditions. |
| Storage Conditions | Store at 2-8 °C and protect from light. |
| Shelf Life | 12 months. |
| Package Specifications | 48 T / 96 T |
| Expiration Date / Stability | Stable for 12 months when stored at 2-8 °C protected from light. |
| Regulatory / Compliance | For research use only. |
| Application Notes / Precautions | Because the assay is performed in microcentrifuge tubes and a multichannel pipette cannot be used for bulk dispensing, processing too many samples at once may create a time gap between the first and last samples and affect the final results. It is recommended to process no more than 3 samples per run, as advised in the manual. |
For research use only, not for clinical use.
